This week – the prompt is C is for Clock.
It could be simply a clock, in which case:
What sort of clock? What’s it like? Working or broken? Valuable or not?
Where is it?
Who owns it – or owned it – if anybody?
Why is it where it is, and in the state it’s in?
How does it contribute to your story?
Some people use clock as another word for a face… there’s a dandelion clock… astronomical clock…
There’s clock as in to notice something – ‘I clocked him standing on the corner’.
There’s clock as in ‘to clock in’ – either at work or when you’re checking the speed of a racing car.
And then there’s clock as in to wallop – ‘I clocked him with my handbag’.
Think of sayings involving clock: a face that’d stop a clock… beat the clock… around the clock… turn back the clock…
So let’s have your stories, poems or pieces of writing – remember it doesn’t have to be a complete story, it could just be a snapshot of a character’s life or a scene from a novel – as long as it’s inspired by the word ‘clock’.
Please send them to louise.hulland@bbc.co.uk and we’ll see what you’ve come up with when we meet again at around 3.20pm on 26th May on the Afternoon Show on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, BBC Radio Suffolk and BBC Radio Norfolk.
